📚Using Looking Glass Studio
Application Layout
Add Hologram Panel
Drag and drop holograms directly into Looking Glass Studio! Simply select your file in file explorer or finder, then drag it anywhere on Looking Glass Studio. Once you've dropped your file, you'll be prompted to choose the type of hologram and select ok.
You can drag & drop multiple files at the same time.

an iPhone-photo mode that includes hidden depth data that can be used to create holograms | |
an image / video format with RGB data in one half and depth data in the other | |
a compressed Looking Glass light field image / video format (more info about this standard) | |
a folder of images of a subject, each photo being slightly offset horizontally from one another |
Playlist Panel
The left side of the application is the Playlist Panel, which lists the holograms that are to play on your Looking Glass Portrait. By right clicking on a hologram or by clicking on a hologram and selecting the Edit item from the application menu, you can do the following:
Duplicate: creates a copy of the hologram: useful if you'd like the playlist to highlight different sections of a given hologram
Edit Length: changes the playback length of hologram images (note - video length cannot be edited in Looking Glass Studio)
Delete: removes a given hologram and all property data from the playlist
Rename: changes the display name of the Hologram in Looking Glass Studio
Export: exports the selected hologram as a .hop file, allowing you to share the exact settings you've chosen in Looking Glass Studio with another Looking Glass user.
In addition to this menu, you can also:
Rearrange holograms by clicking and holding on a playlist item and dragging it above or below other holograms in the playlist
Add new holograms by dragging & dropping or by opening the file browser via the add holograms panel.
Playback Bar
The Playback Bar, underneath the Playlist Panel, lets you control how content is played on the Looking Glass Portrait while in Desktop Mode. These buttons will seek to the previous and next hologram and advance or pause the playback.
Properties Panel
Whenever a hologram is selected in the Playlist Panel, the right side of the application will show that hologram's properties. Adjusting those properties will change how that hologram appears in your Looking Glass Portrait. Each format has different properties.
Syncing to your Looking Glass Portrait
To sync your playlist to your Looking Glass Portrait for Standalone Mode you must first have your Looking Glass Portrait plugged into your computer and running in desktop mode. Make sure the USB-C cable is also connected to the computer.
Once your Looking Glass is ready, click on the "Sync" button. The syncing process will take some time especially if you have a long playlist with many videos.
Ensure that you do not close Looking Glass Studio during syncing.
Once syncing is complete, your portrait will be ready to play your new holograms in standalone mode.
Note that this will replace the default holograms with a new playlist based on what you put together in Looking Glass Studio. If you'd like your content to play alongside the demo content without resyncing the demo holograms,see the instructions here.
