Set up your Looking Glass 27" Light Field Display.

1. Set up your Looking Glass 27"

Download the latest version of the Setup, Safety & Wall Installation Guide below ⤵️ to setup your Looking Glass 27" (Portrait)

2. Plug in and power on your Looking Glass 27"

There are 3 ways to connect the display to your computer: (Please make sure to use Looking Glass power adapters, power cords and cables only)

  1. USB-C DP Alt Mode

    1. Plug in the power adapter with power cord to a wall socket to deliver power to the display.

    2. Plug in the included USB-C Cable to your computer through a USB-C port that supports USB-C DP Alt Mode.

    3. Your display should turn on automatically. If not, press the On/Off Button

Use this mode if your connected computer has a USB-C port that supports USB-C DP Alt Mode. When using USB-C DP Alt-Mode, the LED indicator will be solid green.

  1. DP Mode

    1. Plug in the power adapter with power cord to a wall socket to deliver power to the display.

    2. Plug in the DP Cable into the Looking Glass 27” and the other end into your computer.

    3. Plug in the USB-C Cable into Looking Glass 27” and the other end into your computer USB-C port.

    4. Your display should turn on automatically. If not, press the On/Off Button

Use this mode if your connected computer has a DP port. In this configuration, you will be using the included DP cable in addition to the USB-C cable. When using DP Mode, the LED indicator will be solid cyan.

  1. HDMI Mode

    1. Plug in the power adapter with power cord to a wall socket to deliver power to the display.

    2. Plug in the HDMI 2.1 Cable into the Looking Glass 27” and the other end into your computer.

    3. Plug in the USB-C Cable into Looking Glass 27” and the other end into your computer HDMI 2.1 output port.

    4. Your display should turn on automatically. If not, press the On/Off Button

Use this mode if your connected computer has an HDMI 2.1 Port. In this configuration, you will be using the included HDMI cable in addition to the USB-C cables. When using HDMI Mode, the LED indicator will be solid blue.

Setting Up Your Computer

To ensure your displays works seamlessly with your supporting devices, make sure they are calibrated to the following settings on your computer:

  1. Open up Settings > Displays

  1. Change the Looking Glass display resolution to 2880 x 5120 and the rotation to 270°

  • Ensure True Tone is toggled off

Setting Up Your iPad

You can also use an iPad Pro (M4 chip or newer) to display content onto your displays.

For optional optimization purposes, you can find the additional setting changes for the iPad here. (Under “Looking Glass 16” Displays”)

You must first select the calibration file for your Looking Glass device to run any application. When you run your app, you will be prompted to:

  • Connect your device via USB-C

  • Load a calibration file via the file browser. Calibration files are under Locations -> LKG-XXXXXX (your device serial number) -> LKG_calibration -> visual.json. Select the visual.json file

  • Your calibration is now loaded — applications will store this for future use

4. Download Software (for PC only)

In order to use your displays with a PC, you will need to download Looking Glass software to run 3D content. You will require:

Looking Glass Bridge facilitates communication between your computer and any connected Looking Glass devices. It is required for Looking Glass applications, web apps and development tools.

Looking Glass Bridge is available for Windows, MacOS and Linux-based systems.

Download Looking Glass Bridge (V.2.6.0 or later) here.

Once you've got Looking Glass Bridge installed, run this test below and you should see a hologram appear on your display! For more information about Bridge check out our documentation here.

5. Download demos & plugins to test your display

Once your computer and/or iPad has been set up, it’s ready to use! You can test your display with the following demos via iPad/PC, or directly upload your own creations with our new Unity plugin.

Note: You will need to download and use the TestFlight app in order to test the above demo apps

Note: Existing demos found on Looking Glass’ User Guides cannot be used for the 27” Light Field Display

6. Download plug-ins & software to create your own applications
